Obama Signs Law Banning Federal Embryo Research Two Days After Signing Executive Order to OK It

I voted for the war, before I was against it? I pledged to end earmarks, before I signed them into law? I'm not a Socialist, but I am a Socialist?

All I can say is... "huh"? I don't understand any of this!

He revoked Bush's Executive Order and then revoked his revocation?

Anyone else getting the impression that Obama has no freakin' clue?!?

CNSNews reports:

On Wednesday, only two days after he lifted President Bush’s executive order banning federal funding of stem cell research that requires the destruction of human embryos, President Barack Obama signed a law that explicilty bans federal funding of any "research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death."

The provision was buried in the 465-page omnibus appropriations bill that Obama signed Wednesday. Known as the Dickey-Wicker amendment, it has been included in the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Health and Human Services every fiscal year since 1996.

The amendment says, in part: "None of the funds made available in this Act may be used for—(1) the creation of a human embryo or embryos for research purposes; or (2) research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death."

Found in Section 509 of Title V of the omnibus bill (at page 280 of the 465-page document), the federal funding ban not only prohibits the government from providing tax dollars to support research that kills or risks injury to a human embryo, it also mandates that the government use an all-inclusive definition of “human embryo” that encompasses any nascent human life from the moment that life comes into being, even if created in a laboratory through cloning, in vitro fertilization or any other means. “

For the purposes of this section,” says the law, “the term ‘human embryo or embryos’ includes any organism … that is derived by fertilization, parthenogenesis, cloning, or any other means from one or more human gametes or human diploid cells.” (The entire verbatim text of Section 509 of the omnibus spending law is reprinted at the bottom of this article.)

At a widely publicized White House ceremony on Monday, President Obama signed his own executive order lifting an executive order that President Bush had signed in 2001. While allowing federal funding of research involving embryonic stem cell lines that had already been created from embryos that had already been destroyed, Bush's 2001 order denied federal funding to research that required the killing of any additional embryos.

VIDEO: Bill Maher Says 'The Racism is Coming from Rush Limbaugh'

Maher went head-to-head with Andrew Breitbart on "Real Time"!

Among other hateful things (like "I'm not a homo") Maher says that the people who are buying guns and ammunition since Election Day are doing so "because they're afraid that Obama and his Negro army are going to come and get" them.

The following exchange occurs at 2:37.

(H/T: News Busters)

ANDREW BREITBART: Right now if you look online you'll see that "Atlas Shrugged" and Ayn Rand's books are, are, you know, flying off of the bookshelves, of the virtual bookshelves...

BILL MAHER: Well, so's ammo in Oklahoma.

BREITBART: Right, well okay...

MAHER: Oklahoma's out of ammo because they're afraid that Obama and his Negro army are going to come and get you.

BREITBART: Who's afraid of, who's, where's this racism coming from? I haven't seen this online.

MAHER: Well, the racism is coming from Rush Limbaugh. It's taking root in Oklahoma.

Obama Less Popular Than Bush?

I'm glad someone else is noticing Americans disapprove of the Socialist-In-Chief.
This isn't the change you bargained for, is it?

It is simply wrong for commentators to continue to focus on President Barack Obama's high levels of popularity, and to conclude that these are indicative of high levels of public confidence in the work of his administration. Indeed, a detailed look at recent survey data shows that the opposite is most likely true.

The American people are coming to express increasingly significant doubts about his initiatives, and most likely support a different agenda and different policies from those that the Obama administration has advanced.

Polling data show that Mr. Obama's approval rating is dropping and is below where George W. Bush was in an analogous period in 2001. Rasmussen Reports data shows that Mr. Obama's net presidential approval rating -- which is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve -- is just six, his lowest rating to date.

Overall, Rasmussen Reports shows a 56%-43% approval, with a third strongly disapproving of the president's performance. This is a substantial degree of polarization so early in the administration. Mr. Obama has lost virtually all of his Republican support and a good part of his Independent support, and the trend is decidedly negative.

Ouch! And I ask, yet again, who did you think you were voting for? The warning signs were there, America! You just got swooped up by the Obama Mania!

Obama Budget Page 11, Figure 9: Written By French Socialist Economists!

"While middle-class families have been playing by the rules, living up to their responsibilities as neighbors and citizens, those at the commanding heights of our economy have not." -- Page 5 Of Obama's Budget Plan

Why does this administration imply that success is gained only by cheating and "the wealthy" are somehow not playing by the rules?

And remember, when someone calls Obama a socialist, he calls them on the phone to scold him.

In case you're still not convinced that President Obama is a socialist, The Wall Street Journal gives you another example.

Turn immediately to page 11. There sits a chart called Figure 9. This is the Rosetta Stone to the presidential mind of Barack Obama. Memorize Figure 9, and you will never be confused. Not happy, perhaps, but not confused.

One finds many charts in a federal budget, most attributed to such deep mines of data as the Census Bureau or the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The one on page 11 is attributed to "Piketty and Saez."

Either you know instantly what "Piketty and Saez" means, or you don't. If you do, you spent the past two years working to get Barack Obama into the White House.

If you don't, their posse has a six-week head start on you.

Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez, French economists, are rock stars of the intellectual left. Their specialty is "earnings inequality" and "wealth concentration."

Messrs. Piketty and Saez have produced the most politically potent squiggle along an axis since Arthur Laffer drew his famous curve on a napkin in the mid-1970s. Laffer's was an economic argument for lowering tax rates for everyone. Piketty-Saez is a moral argument for raising taxes on the rich.

As described in Mr. Obama's budget, these two economists have shown that by the end of 2004, the top 1% of taxpayers "took home" more than 22% of total national income. This trend, Fig. 9 notes, began during the Reagan presidency, skyrocketed through the Clinton years, dipped after George Bush beat Al Gore, then marched upward. Widening its own definition of money-grubbers, the budget says the top 10% of households "held" 70% of total wealth.

Alan Reynolds of the Cato Institute criticized the Piketty-Saez study on these pages in October 2007. Whatever its merits, their "Top 1%" chart has become a totemic obsession in progressive policy circles.

Turn to page five of Mr. Obama's federal budget, and one may read these commentaries on the top 1% datum:

"While middle-class families have been playing by the rules, living up to their responsibilities as neighbors and citizens, those at the commanding heights of our economy have not."

"Prudent investments in education, clean energy, health care and infrastructure were sacrificed for huge tax cuts for the wealthy and
well-connected."

"There's nothing wrong with making money, but there is something wrong when we allow the playing field to be tilted so far in the favor of so few. . . . It's a legacy of irresponsibility, and it is our duty to change it."

Bungalow Bill reminds Obama to revisit the works of Karl Marx:

Obama is using language to convince the working class to hate and turn on the those who provide jobs. Obama’s coming after the wealth in this country, and he hopes you will jump on and demand equality while he destroys it. Once he destroys is with the evident class welfare in his budget, he will destroy all of our wealth and our chances to grow more wealth. Obama claims he is not a socialist, but he attacks the capitalists in this country like Marx once attacked the capitalists. The Obama budget screams socialism.

Allow me to yet again define socialism for Dear Leader:

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals, with a fair or egalitarian method of compensation. Modern socialism originated in the late 19th-century intellectual and working class political movement that criticized the effects of industrialization and private ownership on society. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution, and would represent a transitional stage between the capitalist and communist modes of production.

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital, creates an unequal society, and does not provide equal opportunities for everyone in society. Therefore socialists advocate the creation of a society in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly based on the amount of work expended in production, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be achieved.

Obama's Weekly Address: Translated; This Week: Peanut Butter, Cold Medicine, Tuberculosis and Diseased Cows. Huh?

Every Saturday, I break down President Obama's address, inspired by Sean Hannity's "Liberal Translation".

WASHINGTON – In his weekly address, President Barack Obama announced the appointments of Dr. Margaret Hamburg as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, and Dr. Joshua Sharfstein as the Principal Deputy Commissioner, as well as the creation of a new Food Safety Working Group. This Food Safety Working Group will be chaired by the Secretaries of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture and it will coordinate with other agencies and senior officials to advise the President on improving coordination throughout the government, examining and upgrading food safety laws, and enforcing laws that will keep the American people safe.

In addition, the President also announced two other measures to protect the American people. The Department of Agriculture will close a loophole to prevent diseased cows from entering the food supply. And, the government will invest in the FDA to substantially increase the number of food inspectors and modernize food safety labs.

President Obama announced his appointments of the following individuals today:

Margaret "Peggy" Hamburg

Dr. Hamburg is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in public health and medicine, and an authority on global health, public health systems, infectious disease, bioterrorism and emergency preparedness. She served as the Nuclear Threat Initiative's founding Vice President for the Biological Program. Before joining NTI, she was the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to this, she served for six years as the Commissioner of Health for the City of New York and as the Assistant Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.

Joshua "Josh" Sharfstein

Dr. Joshua M. Sharfstein is Commissioner of Health for the City of Baltimore. He also serves as chair of the board of four affiliated nonprofit agencies. He has been recognized as a national leader for his efforts to protect children from unsafe jewelry and over-the-counter medication, and ensuring Americans with disabilities have access to prescription drugs. He is a member of the Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice of the Institute of Medicine.

For the record, on You Tube, The White House lists this video as "public domain"! Thanks, considering we all paid for it!

Transcript from White House:

I’ve often said that I don’t believe government has the answer to every problem or that it can do all things for all people. We are a nation built on the strength of individual initiative. But there are certain things that we can’t do on our own. There are certain things only a government can do.

What exactly does Obama consider us capable of doing by ourselves? Brush our teeth, put on socks on and stuff like that? A lot of nerve for a guy who has initiated the largest redristribution of wealth from private to public in U.S. History! Come on, Obama; tell the truth we know what you're up! The complete Socialist take-over of American lives!

And one of those things is ensuring that the foods we eat, and the medicines we take, are safe and don’t cause us harm. That is the mission of our Food and Drug Administration and it is a mission shared by our Department of Agriculture, and a variety of other agencies and offices at just about every level of government.

Well damn! I guess now that the economy is all fixed, the world is such a safe place and we no longer have to worry about enemy combatants who want to kill us; we have time to worry about trivial things like "the foods we eat".

Did I miss something? I thought we had a dire economic crisis and a couple wars going on somewhere!?!

The men and women who inspect our foods and test the safety of our medicines are chemists and physicians, veterinarians and pharmacists. It is because of the work they do each and every day that the United States is one of the safest places in the world to buy groceries at a supermarket or pills at a drugstore. Unlike citizens of so many other countries, Americans can trust that there is a strong system in place to ensure that the medications we give our children will help them get better, not make them sick; and that a family dinner won’t end in a trip to the doctor’s office.

And American's are supposed to trust the Federal Government, which can't manage itself out of a paper bag? Yes, we have safe food and medicine, Mr. President but I fear your nationalized health care plan will make many drugs unavailable, but I guess you don't want to hear about that right now.

The government is going to keep me from getting sick? What a great job the FDA did with that whole peanut butter mess!

But in recent years, we’ve seen a number of problems with the food making its way to our kitchen tables. In 2006, it was contaminated spinach. In 2008, it was salmonella in peppers and possibly tomatoes. And just this year, bad peanut products led to hundreds of illnesses and cost nine people their lives – a painful reminder of how tragic the consequences can be when food producers act irresponsibly and government is unable to do its job. Worse, these incidents reflect a troubling trend that’s seen the average number of outbreaks from contaminated produce and other foods grow to nearly 350 a year – up from 100 a year in the early 1990s.

So more regulation and bigger government is going to fix all of that? "Possibly tomatoes"? Is that like saying, "Peppers, tomatoes, or something...um, I don't really know but believe me! It's scary! It's a crisis! We have to throw money at it and make the government bigger! The sky is falling!"

Part of the reason is that many of the laws and regulations governing food safety in America have not been updated since they were written in the time of Teddy Roosevelt. It’s also because our system of inspection and enforcement is spread out so widely among so many people that it’s difficult for different parts of our government to share information, work together, and solve problems.

"It’s also because our system of inspection and enforcement is spread out so widely among so many people"... uhhhh.... isn't that the problem with big government socialism? Too many cooks spoil the batch?

And it’s also because the FDA has been underfunded and understaffed in recent years, leaving the agency with the resources to inspect just 7,000 of our 150,000 food processing plants and warehouses each year. That means roughly 95% of them go uninspected.

And Obama is going to fix everything! Woo hoo!

That is a hazard to public health. It is unacceptable. And it will change under the leadership of Dr. Margaret Hamburg, whom I am appointing today as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. From her research on infectious disease at the National Institutes of Health to her work on public health at the Department of Health and Human Services to her leadership on biodefense at the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Dr. Hamburg brings to this vital position not only a reputation of integrity but a record of achievement in making Americans safer and more secure. Dr. Hamburg was one of the youngest people ever elected to the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine.

And her two children have a unique distinction of their own. Their birth certificates feature her name twice – once as their mother, and once as New York City Health Commissioner.

Speaking of birth certificates... can we see yours now? Who signed it? Who is listed as your mother? Zing!

In that role, Dr. Hamburg brought a new life to a demoralized agency, leading an internationally-recognized initiative that cut the tuberculosis rate by nearly half, and overseeing food safety in our nation’s largest city.

Tuberculosis? Was that a problem? Did she cut the plague rate in half? Scurvy?

Joining her as Principal Deputy Commissioner will be Dr. Joshua Sharfstein. As Baltimore’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Sharfstein has been recognized as a national leader for his efforts to protect children from unsafe over-the-counter cough and cold medications. And he’s designed an award-winning program to ensure that Americans with disabilities had access to prescription drugs.

How many unsafe over-the-counter cold medicines are there? Sure, keep our kids safe, but should I be worried?

Their critical work – and the critical work of the FDA they lead – will be part of a larger effort taken up by a new Food Safety Working Group I am creating. This Working Group will bring together cabinet secretaries and senior officials to advise me on how we can upgrade our food safety laws for the 21st century; foster coordination throughout government; and ensure that we are not just designing laws that will keep the American people safe, but enforcing them. And I expect this group to report back to me with recommendations as soon as possible.

Yeah! Another group, council, task force, bureaucracy! And another shadow government White House project because Rahmbo has to run everything!

As part of our commitment to public health, our Agriculture Department is closing a loophole in the system to ensure that diseased cows don’t find their way into the food supply.

How many diseased cows have I eaten already? What are you talking about? How about we ensure that no diseased pork is coming out of Washington?

And we are also strengthening our food safety system and modernizing our labs with a billion dollar investment, a portion of which will go toward significantly increasing the number of food inspectors, helping ensure that the FDA has the staff and support they need to protect the food we eat.

Billion here, a trillion there. *sinister laugh* Pretty soon I, Barack Obama, will be close to enacting the "Cloward-Piven Strategy":

First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

In the end, food safety is something I take seriously, not just as your President, but as a parent. When I heard peanut products were being contaminated earlier this year, I immediately thought of my 7-year old daughter, Sasha, who has peanut butter sandwiches for lunch probably three times a week.

Really? You don't let her have any of that $100 steak? Peanut butter is all she gets?

No parent should have to worry that their child is going to get sick from their lunch. Just as no family should have to worry that the medicines they buy will cause them harm. Protecting the safety of our food and drugs is one of the most fundamental responsibilities government has, and, with the outstanding team I am announcing today, it is a responsibility that I intend to uphold in the months and years to come.
And this is probably the last time you'll hear him talk about food safety.

VIDEO: Bin Laden Accuses Moderate Arab Leaders, Urges Jihad

I guess he's still alive... *sigh*... no worries though; Obama plans to cozy up with "moderate" Taliban who think he's nuts!

Plus, good news for Bin Laden if we ever capture him: Obama no longer considers him an "enemy"!

Reuters reports:

DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden accused moderate Arab leaders of plotting with the West against Muslims and urged his followers to prepare for jihad (holy war), in a recording aired by Al Jazeera television.

"It is clear that some Arab leaders have plotted with the Zionist crusader coalition against our (Muslim) people, these (Arab countries) the United States calls the moderate states," bin Laden said, without naming any of the leaders.

"We must seriously work and prepare for jihad to enforce the right and abolish the wrong," bin Laden said in the audio recording that was aired on Saturday.

Bin Laden, who made a similar call for jihad on January 14, described Israel's offensive in Gaza and its attacks on the Palestinian territory as a "holocaust" and said militants wanting to help Gazans should support Iraqis fighting U.S.-led forces and Baghdad's government.

"The valuable and rare opportunity for those who sincerely want to free (Jerusalem) is to support the mujahideen in Iraq with everything they need to free the country," he said, adding that Jordan would be the next country to be liberated, giving militants access to the West Bank.

Al Jazeera broadcast excerpts of the audio recording, in which the speaker's voice sounded like earlier messages from bin Laden.

"Gaza's holocaust after the long siege is a historic event and tragedy that underlines the need for a separation between Muslims and hypocrites," bin Laden said.

Iranian President Declares His Country a Space and Nuclear Power!

Hooray!

TEHRAN, March 13 (RIA Novosti) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday that pressure from Western powers trying to keep Iran in economic isolation have in fact spurred the country to become a space and nuclear power.

"Had you not been bad-tempered and blocked the way, the Iranian nation would not have been present in space, and would not have become a nuclear power," Fars news agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying at the inauguration ceremony of a natural gas deposit in the Bushehr province.

Iran put its first communications satellite, Omid (Hope), into a near Earth orbit on February 2. The research satellite was carried into orbit by a home-made launch vehicle, Safir (Messenger). Iranian Communications Minister Mohammad Soleimani earlier said that the country's scientists were working on the creation of four new satellites to be placed into near-Earth orbit.

The Iranian president said Western powers are unable to stop Iran's technological and scientific progress with their "spiteful actions." He also called the international economic sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program a "grave blunder."

"Of course, we believe that the Iranian nation can tread the path to progress under God's mercy," he said.

Cold War 2.0: Hugo Chavez Offers Russians Island To Be Used For Strategic Bombers

This is the sort of thing that happens after our President surrenders.

From Novosti, a Russian news and information agency:
MOSCOW, March 14 (RIA Novosti) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has proposed to Russia using a Venezuelan island for temporary hosting of Russian long-range aviation, a top-ranking Russian Air Force official said Saturday.

"There is such a proposal on the part of the Venezuelan president. Chavez proposed to us a whole island with an airfield that we can use for temporary basing of strategic bombers," said Maj.-Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev, the chief of the long-range aviation staff.

"If there is the relevant political decision, the island ... could be used by the Russian Air Force," Zhikharev told journalists.

He said the temporary basing opportunity could be used for air patrol missions.

In September 2008 two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack multi-mission strategic bombers arrived in Venezuela after a 13-hour flight over the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. There were no nuclear weapons on board the aircraft. After that, they carried out a patrol mission over the Caribbean.

The Tu-160 Blackjack is a supersonic, variable-geometry heavy bomber, designed to strike strategic targets with nuclear and conventional weapons deep in continental theaters of operation.

Bloomberg also reports:
March 14 (Bloomberg) -- Russia could land strategic bombers at Cuban and Venezuelan airfields while conducting patrols, the head of the Russian strategic air force was quoted as saying by the Interfax news service.

“With Cuba, this is possible,” the Moscow-based agency quoted Major General Anatoly Zhikharev as saying. “There are four or five airfields with 4,000-meter (13,000-feet) runways which suit us completely.”

Russia has also received an offer to temporarily station bombers in Venezuela from President Hugo Chavez, which Zhikharev called “possible,” according to state television station Vesti-24.

“If the heads of the two countries show the will, the political will, then we are prepared to fly there,” Zhikharev said, according to Interfax.

A Kremlin spokesman said that Zhikharev was speaking about the technical ability of the airstrips to receive the planes. “Most countries have runways where our bombers could land,” he said today by telephone.

While Russia had received an offer to fly to Cuba, the spokesman said he couldn’t comment on whether Russia intended to send planes to Cuba or Venezuela.
Someone tell the Russians to relax: Obama is well on his way to making us the United Socialist States of America! Back in the U.S.S.A.!

President Obama Officially Abandons Use of the Term "Enemy Combatants"

President Obama is officially abandoning its use of the term "enemy combatants" to describe terror suspects - ending a key policy of the Bush administration.

It is the latest shift on Guantanamo Bay by President Barack Obama, who has announced the camp is to be closed.

The decision to drop the term is deeply symbolic, correspondents say.

President George W Bush argued that his status as commander-in chief allowed him to hold "enemy combatants" indefinitely and without trial.

Announcing the end of the term's use, the Justice Department said suspects would in future be held according to legal standards set by the international laws of war.

Under the new definition, only those who provided "substantial" support to al-Qaeda or the Taleban will be considered detainable, officials said.

But no worries.

Liberals who figured out what Obama is up to are not happy. They call the move symbolic with good reason. On the issue of enemy combatants, Obama is essentially doing the same thing as President Bush. He’s just calling it something else.

Oh Bama! You jokester!

Obama Revisits "National Citizen's Security Force"

"We cannot continue to push the burden onto our military alone, nor leave dormant any aspect of the full arsenal of American capability ... That's why my administration is committed to renewing diplomacy as a tool of American power, and to developing our civilian national security capabilities."

--President Obama, Thursday at the dedication of the National Defense University's Abraham Lincoln Hall.

(H/T: Doug Ross)

This is an unprecedented powerful force of crazed ObamaManiacs, angry Obama Youth, and radical Left Wing Wackos.

Maybe this explains why gun sales are through the roof.

Remember this:

In Barack Obama’s July 2, 2008 speech calling America to national service, Obama proposed “a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our military... This has prompted some in the blogosphere to raise the specter of a huge new domestic paramilitary organization...[Obama said]

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

And this:

In fact, those functions are central to the mission of President Obama's new DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce:

Members of the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce shall be organized, trained, cleared, equipped, and ready to deploy in support of combat operations by the military; contingencies; emergency operations; humanitarian missions; disaster relief; restoration of order; drug interdiction; and stability operations of the Department of Defense in accordance with DoDD 3000.05...

The 1992 directive mentions the term "overseas" no fewer than 33 times.

The 2009 directive does not mention the term "overseas" in the body of the directive even once.

Consider the nebulous terms used: "...contingencies, emergency operations... restoration of order... and stability operations.

"Who will define "Contingencies"? "Restoration of order"? "Stability operations"?

News flash: the Constitution defined a civilian national security force.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

What the hell are you doing, Obama?

AUDIO UPDATE: Joe Biden Gaffe Of The Day: "Gimme A Fucking Break"!

UPDATE: Mark Levin Plays Vice-President Joe Biden Dropping the "F-Bomb" - Audio 3/13/09

Yikes! What is the implication? He doesn't like being called Vice President or that he doesn't like being Vice President?

Maybe he feels just like I do; I said the exact same thing when Obama announced Biden as his running mate last summer!

At an event at Union Station today where Vice President Joe Biden was heralding the $1.3 billion in investments in rebuilding train stations and passenger rails, a microphone picked up one of the former senator's myriad Senate colleagues addressing him, formally, as "Mr. Vice President."

That met with Vice President Biden's standard reply.

"Gimme a f*&$#ing break," he said, apparently unaware that the microphone was on.

Great American Tea Party Victory In Missouri!

Via Free Republic:

Kansas City, Missouri - The maturing Tea Party Protest Movement claimed its first victory this week when Senator Claire McCaskill, D, Missouri, voted against the Omnibus Spending Bill. McCaskill cited her opposition to earmarks in opposing the bill’s passage.

“Evidently we made our point,” Kansas City Tea Party organizer Robert Ballard said of McCaskill’s defection from the democratic party line in the Senate. “We applaud McCaskill for recognizing the deep level of discontent in this country that’s being driven by President Obama’s desire to reshape America with an agenda we believe moves America toward a socialist society. We’re counting on Claire to continue her leadership in the fight against funding special interests and corruption in Washington D.C.”

McCaskill’s surprising reversal on the spending bill comes just 11 days after an estimated 200 protesters marched on McCaskill’s Kansas City regional office to hold one of many Tea Party protests sweeping the nation since President Barack Obama began unveiling his agenda for reshaping America.

Obama himself referred to the Omnibus Bill as “flawed” as he signed the $410 billion measure that will fund many federal programs into fiscal year 2009.

Amanda Grosserode, a home-schooling mother who organized a similar protest at the Overland Park, Kansas office of Democratic Representative Dennis Moore expressed optimism for the Tea Party Protest Movement.

“Changing Senator McCaskill’s mind is just the movement’s first measurable victory,” Grosserode said. “Washington D.C. can not ignore this movement so long as we stand on our principles and never give up the fight to save our values, preserve the American Dream as we know it, and insist on fiscal responsibility.”

When asked if organizing the Tea Party at McCaskill’s office was worth the effort, not to mention enduring 4” of snow and biting wind, Ballard thought for a minute about the cause.

“To have a leading Senator like Claire McCaskill hear our demands and respond this quickly, and this dramatically, makes it all worthwhile. We’ll hold as many Tea Parties as it takes to get the job done.”

Ballard and Grosserode are planning more protests, and seeking ways to grow the movement.

VIDEO: Michael Steele Debate: 'I hope he stays around forever,' 'He's great for comic relief.'

Faiz Shakir of ThinkProgress and Amanda Carpenter debate the Michael Steele controversy.

Neither thinks Steele is doing a very good job. Carpenter calls Steele's abortion stance "muddled" and "problematic" for his future as the GOP leader.

Shakir slams Steele hard several times! Ouch!

It's Time For Michael Steele To Resign

Admittedly, I supported Michael Steele when he was tapped to head the GOP. At the time, I had hoped he would be a voice to articulate conservatism and a leader in expanding the GOP base via making the Republican party more appealing to moderates and independents.

However, it's becoming clear every day that Steele may not be as well qualified as I thought.

First, there was the Rush Limbaugh feud and now his abortion gaffe.

The truth is, the Republican party is still seeking a true leader. Beyond the gaffes and miscues, I think Steele is spending too much time as a talking head on cable news, and not enough behind-the-scenes work actually leading and planning and fund-raising.

At risk of enabling the Liberals and the biased media to attack the GOP for "imploding" and having no real leadership, it may be time for Steele to resign.

WASHINGTON (March 12) - A day after a magazine quoted him as saying abortion was "an individual choice," GOP Chairman Michael Steele said Thursday he opposes abortion and that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.

A leading conservative called Steele's remarks in GQ magazine "cavalier and flippant," underscoring the new chairman's precarious position with party regulars concerned about his off-the-cuff style and penchant for miscues.

Fivethirtyeight reports Steele's fate may be linked to the special election to fill Kristen Gillibrand's open House seat:

According to multiple former high-level RNC staffers familiar with the dynamics involved, Steele is unlikely to survive in the post if favored Republican Jim Tedisco loses his open-seat race to Democrat Scott Murphy.

The special election, scheduled for March 31, is to fill a vacancy left when Kirsten Gillibrand took Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat.

If Tedisco loses, the ex-staffers said, “Steele is done.”

Completely, definitively?

“Absolutely.”

Some reports say Steele may be finished regardless of the outcome of the NY special election.

Republican insiders tell Political Wire that a no confidence vote on RNC Chairman Michael Steele is likely to be called after the NY-20 special election on March 31 -- regardless of whether Republicans win the seat or not.

Katon Dawson, who came in second in the January RNC vote, is said to be quietly organizing a vote and is getting the support of several state party chairmen who want to dump Steele.

College Politico presents this argument:

I half wish these rumors were true. I say half because while Steele’s idiotic performance from an organizational stand point thus far, his increasing liberalism, and his ridiculous and failed attempt to take on Rush Limbaugh it would be disastrous to replace him at this point.

Yes, it true that the party will likely continue to falter under Steele’s “guidance” but the firestorm that would result from an ousting of the head of the RNC (and arguably the face of the party) this early on without some sort of catastrophic failure on his part would be far worse than keeping him on… for the moment.

All of us who want Steele gone before he goes further off the deep end must bide our time. If the current trend continues it wont be long until Steele does something worthy of an ouster. We need to find a way to get rid of him with the smallest amount of “the Republican party is imploding” talk as possible.

Be patient. Let Steele evict himself from the RNC chairmanship. It will come, we only need to be ready when it does.

Perhaps it's too son, but I think it's time to start looking for another leader.

Another One Bites The Dust! Third Top Treasury Pick, H. Rodgin Cohen, Withdraws From Consideration

Why does no one want to work with the super-genious "uniquely" qualified financial wiz kid can't keep up with his work?

Awww.....poor wittle Timmy...

Henry Rodgin ("Rodge") Cohen is a prominent corporate lawyer whose practice focuses on commercial banking and financial institutions.

The Financial Times has called Cohen "one of the biggest players on Wall Street". The Wall Street Journal refers to Cohen as "arguably the country’s leading banking lawyer".

Cohen participated in the bank negotiations in January 1981 that resulted in the freeing of the Americans held during the Iran hostage crisis. Cohen has also been a key player in the resolution of most major bank failures in recent decades, including Continental Illinois, First City, Southeast, Franklin National Bank and Bank of New England and, at the recommendation of the Federal Reserve, the Ohio thrift crisis during the U.S. Savings and Loan crisis in the 1980s. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Cohen was a leader in the Wall Street community rallying support for Lower Manhattan.

HuffPo reports:
WASHINGTON — A prominent New York attorney has withdrawn from consideration for the No. 2 job at the Treasury Department, the second person to drop out of the running for the post, a Democratic source said Thursday.

The Democratic source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because it involved personnel matters, said that H. Rodgin Cohen had asked to have his name removed from consideration for the job of deputy Treasury secretary.

The Obama administration has had trouble filling posts at the Treasury Department, leaving Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner as the only official whose nomination has cleared the Senate confirmation process as the administration grapples with the worst economic crisis in seven decades.

Top Obama Slobberer George Stephanopoulos reports:
Democratic sources say that H. Rodgin Cohen, a partner in the New York law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, and the leading candidate for Deputy Treasury Secretary, has withdrawn from consideration.

It's the third withdrawal of a top Treasury Department staff pick in less than a week. I reported last week that Cohen was likely to be officially nominated for the Deputy Treasury Secretary position.

Cohen has been a counsel to just about every major player on Wall Street, which perhaps complicated his nomination.

Now, the nomination is off.

Democratic sources said that an issue arose in the final stages of the vetting process.

As one source put it, "it's back to the drawing board."

Just a hunch... these nominees are seeing the Obama/Geithner plan, or lack there of, and want no part of the mess.

Yikes! Sen. Gregg Calls Bokonon Obama/Geithner Budget A Lie!

"All of the true things that I am about to tell you are shameless lies."
--from the "Books of Bokonon", "Bokononism" is the fictional religion practiced by many of the characters in Kurt Vonnegut's novel Cat's Cradle. It is based on living by the untruths that make one happy.

Well, duh...! So it goes...

I've been stating for weeks that this budget is full of crap! It's a complete joke! This entire Presidency is based on lies, myths and spin!

President Bokonon Obama lies to make his cronies happy!

MSNBC reported:

It was obvious to most Capitol Hill insiders why President Obama wanted Republican Judd Gregg as a member of his cabinet: He's one of the sharpest money-minds in Congress.

But instead of getting Gregg's counsel within the administration, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner found himself today of the receiving end of Gregg's fiscal conservative wrath.

In a hearing before the Senate Budget Committee Gregg dressed down Geithner with facts, figures, and charts. While always keeping his cool, the exchange was somewhere between a mother's scolding, a drill sergeant's questioning and an attorney's cross examination.

In his opening statement, Gregg politely called the administration's budget forecast a lie.

"The argument that it cuts the debt in half in four years is, ahh, is truly spurious," he told Geithner.

President Obama himself gives Gregg's comments a sense of stinging credibility. When the president introduced Gregg as his nominee for Commerce Secretary last month, he said Gregg is known for is fiscal discipline.

Ouch! That's gonna leave a mark!

China "Worried" About Safety Of US Treasury Bonds, Asks For Credit Guarantee

This is pretty disturbing news considering President Obama has mortgaged our country's future with unprecedented out-of-control Federal spending.

China, America's largest creditor, says it is it "worried" about the safety and security of U.S. Treasury bonds and is asking “the U.S. to maintain its good credit, to honor its promises and to guarantee the safety of China’s assets,”

The Wall Street Journal reports:

BEIJING -- Premier Wen Jiabao voiced confidence in China's economy, saying his government's finances give it room to spend even more to support growth if needed, but expressed concern about the outlook for the U.S. and the safety of its Treasury bonds.

The forceful comments from Mr. Wen's annual press conference -- a rare opportunity for domestic and foreign reporters to ask a top Chinese official questions directly -- helped depress the U.S. dollar and prices of U.S. Treasurys in Asian trading Friday.

The public airing of his concerns reflect how the relationship between China and the U.S. has been evolving under the pressure of the financial crisis. For years the U.S. has pressed China to change the way it runs its economy, such as by opening up its financial system. But in the last year China's government has been increasingly vocal about what it sees as U.S. economic mismanagement. And as the U.S. government's largest creditor, it has become more assertive in trying to ensure its interests receive a hearing.

"We have lent a huge amount of money to the U.S., so of course we are concerned about the safety of our assets. Frankly speaking, I do have some worries," Mr. Wen said in response to a question. He did not offer specific suggestions on economic policy to the U.S. government, but called on it to "maintain its credibility, honor its commitments and guarantee the security of Chinese assets."

Just Kidding About The Doom and Gloom! Obama Now Says Economy "not as bad as we think"

Something to keep in mind, Team "O" is enacting parts of the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" right before our eyes:

First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Last November, Rahm The Ballerina, commented 'You never want a serious crisis to go to waste'.

From the day he took office, has been determined to use the crisis to deceive the American people and use smoke and mirrors to enact the Radical American Communist Experiment (R.A.C.E.)"

Team "O" wants to create a Socialist dystopia that will make The Federal government stronger and more prosperous to control every element of society. The great Socialist power grab to establish a permanent voting majority!

Breitbart reports:

Confronting misgivings, even in his own party, President Barack Obama mounted a stout defense of his blueprint to overhaul the economy Thursday, declaring the national crisis is "not as bad as we think" and his plans will speed recovery.

Challenged to provide encouragement as the nation's "confidence builder in chief," Obama said Americans shouldn't be whipsawed by bursts of either bad or good news and he was "highly optimistic" about the long term.

The president's proposals for major health care, energy and education changes in the midst of economic hard times faced skepticism from both Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill, as senators questioned his budget outlook and the deficits it envisions in the middle of the next decade.

But Obama, speaking to top executives of the Business Roundtable, expressed an optimistic vision and called for patience.

Richard Parsons, chairman of beleaguered Citigroup Inc., asked if Obama could offer some help in a national battle "between confidence and fear."

"A smidgen of good news and suddenly everything is doing great. A little bit of bad news and ooohh , we're down on the dumps," Obama said. "And I am obviously an object of this constantly varying assessment. I am the object in chief of this varying assessment."

I guess he can stop using doom and gloom Chicken Little scenarios now that we are well on our way to Socialism!

ACORN, MoveOn Join Forces To Pressure Blue Dog Democrats On Housing Crisis

Remember...

...ACORN thinks Americans have a Constitutional right to own a home, support illegally breaking into homes and generally acting like criminal idiots.

Politico reports:

Republicans hammered Barack Obama over his connection to ACORN during last year’s election, but now ACORN is taking a swing at some Democrats — with the help of liberal activists at MoveOn.org.

The role reversal arises out of the groups’ anger at moderate House Democrats who opposed a housing bill that has more generous bankruptcy rules for people facing foreclosure.

Next week this coalition will begin airing TV ads criticizing House Democrats who voted against the measure, which would for the first time give judges the authority to restructure home mortgages — a procedure known as a cramdown.

The House last week voted 234-191 to pass the housing bill with the bankruptcy provision, but 24 Democrats, mostly moderates, voted against it.

ACORN, a coalition of housing activists, has made this measure a top priority in the new Congress.

It is the first time ACORN and MoveOn.org have joined forces to target a lawmaker from either party. The organizations say that they are actively seeking out residents in the districts of Reps. Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.), Baron Hill (D-Ind.), Marion Berry (D-Ark.), and Tim Holden (D-Pa.) who have lost their homes, so they can appear in TV ads asking their congressmen why they voted against the bill.

“We think it is significant that progressives are joining forces to hold congressional moderates accountable for their votes affecting working families,” ACORN Executive Director Steve Kest told POLITICO. “We think that it signals how seriously we take these issues in the face of the economic meltdown.”

The liberal coalition doesn’t seem to mind taking on Democrats, though it’s unclear if the ad campaign would extend to backing more liberal Democrats in primaries against moderates like Ellsworth and Hill next year.

"We were appalled to see some congressional Democrats side with Wall Street while families in their districts are struggling to stay in their homes," said Robert Greenwald, president of Brave New Foundation, an organization spearheading the effort. "That is just unconscionable."

Color of Change, an African-American organization, is helping to finance the ad buy. The groups did not specify how much will be spent on the effort.

What is so "unconscionable"? That there is a Democrat who actually believes in serving his country in a fiscally responsible manner?
This is the time of day where I let out my daily "why did you vote for this guy, knowing his radical leftists ties" scream of frustration.
Okay, I got it out.

Oops! San Fran Police Union Accuses Bill Ayers in 1970 Bombing, Killing Of Officer

Uh-oh...what does Obama say now? He thought Ayers was a "rehabilitated" cop killer?

I suppose he can always have Attorney General Eric Holder recommend a full pardon.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

Leaders of San Francisco's police officers union have accused Weather Underground co-founder Bill Ayers and his wifLinke, Bernardine Dohrn, of taking part in the 1970 bombing of a city police station that killed a sergeant.

The union leveled the charge in a letter to a conservative organization lobbying for arrests in the case, but said it had not been in contact with investigators and had no new evidence related to the bombing, which killed Sgt. Brian McDonnell.

Instead, the union cited information from a former Bay Area resident, Larry Grathwohl, who is working with the conservative group, America's Survival Inc. of Maryland. Grathwohl asserts that he infiltrated the Weather Underground as an FBI informant and heard Ayers confess to a role in the bombing.

Ayers has denied any involvement in the bombing and, in January, called Grathwohl a "paid dishonest person" in an interview with The
Chronicle.

The accusation from the union surprised some authorities. According to a source familiar with the probe, who spoke on condition of anonymity, investigators have found no evidence that links the Weather Underground to the bombing.

America's Survival is planning to hold a press conference today at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to discuss the case and the union's letter.

"There are irrefutable and compelling reasons to believe that Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn ... are largely responsible for the bombing of Park Police Station," the letter says.

The letter, dated Feb. 24, is signed by union president Gary Delagnes, vice president Kevin Martin, secretary Tony Montoya, treasurer Martin Halloran and sergeant at arms Christopher Breen.

VIDEO: Nervous Democrats Are Urging the White House to Hurry Up on Fixing the Economy

Reported by CNN of all places? Is the media turning on The Chosen One?

Hurry up, the Democrats ask?

Face the truth people: Obama and Geithner have no idea how to fix The Obama (Depression?) Recession!

CNN Reports:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Some Democrats are increasingly concerned about President Obama's $787 billion financial fix for the ailing economy, and are demanding greater transparency on further spending.

With the White House seemingly comparing the nation's economy to a house on fire, some congressional Democrats are asking, where's the fire truck?

One New Hampshire congresswoman said as much to Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner on Capitol Hill recently.

"I said, hurry, please hurry, because people are waiting and they are hurting, and they need the help now," Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, D-New Hampshire, said.

She's one of a growing number of nervous Democrats on edge or at odds with some of the Obama's administration's plans on the economy.

Some are taking aim at the president's budget proposals that would curb popular tax deductions for wealthier Americans. Watch more on why some Democrats are nervous.

"I don't think ultimately the criticism is surprising. That certainly happens and is all part of the process," said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

As a nod to moderate concerns, Obama took steps to make his budget more transparent. He included items former President George W. Bush passed separately in recent years to obscure the true operating cost of the government, such as the money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, an annual multibillion-dollar fix of the fees Medicare pays physicians and Alternative Minimum Tax relief for the middle class.

Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Indiana, who along with Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson and Connecticut Independent Joe Lieberman is one of the so-called Gang of 15 -- a coalition of moderate Democratic senators -- says it's all about the messaging.

"Like getting health care costs under control is important to the economy and getting the deficit down," he said. "Sustainable sources of energy at reasonable prices is also important to the economy. Dealing with the financial crisis is obviously important to the economy."

Bayh added: "So what needs to be done is, Obama's got to move on all these fronts but also integrate them back to the same theme of always strengthening the economy, getting people to work, growing businesses, improving our standard of living."

Record-High 41% of Americans Think Global Warming Hype Is Over-Exaggerated

Gallup reports:

Although a majority of Americans believe the seriousness of global warming is either correctly portrayed in the news or underestimated, a record-high 41% now say it is exaggerated. This represents the highest level of public skepticism about mainstream reporting on global warming seen in more than a decade of Gallup polling on the subject.

As recently as 2006, significantly more Americans thought the news underestimated the seriousness of global warming than said it exaggerated it, 38% vs. 30%. Now, according to Gallup's 2009 Environment survey, more Americans say the problem is exaggerated rather than underestimated, 41% vs. 28%.

The trend in the "exaggerated" response has been somewhat volatile since 2001, and the previous high point, 38%, came in 2004. Over the next two years, "exaggerated" sentiment fell to 31% and 30%. Still, as noted, the current 41% is the highest since Gallup's trend on this measure began in 1997.

Obama Hypocrisy 2.0: Obama Defends Pet Projects, Signs Spending Bill; Before He Spoke Out Against It

The president called the bill imperfect and recommended further earmark changes "to ensure that the budget process inspires trust and confidence instead of cynicism."

Does anybody know what the hell Obama is talking about? He signed an another "imperfect" spending laden with thousands of earmarks and then calls for earmark reform?

Huh?

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama, sounding weary of criticism over federal earmarks, defended Congress' pet projects Wednesday as he signed an "imperfect" $410 billion measure with thousands of examples. But he said the spending does need tighter restraint and listed guidelines to do it. Obama, accused of hypocrisy by Republicans for embracing billions of dollars of earmarks in the legislation, said they can be useful and noted that he has promised to curb, not eliminate them.

On another potentially controversial matter, the president also issued a "signing statement" with the bill, saying several of its provisions raised constitutional concerns and would be taken merely as suggestions. He has criticized President George W. Bush for often using such statements to claim the right to ignore portions of new laws, and on Monday he said his administration wouldn't follow those issued by Bush unless authorized by the new attorney general.

White House officials have accused Bush of using the statements to get around Congress in pursuing anti-terror tactics.

Obama signed the bill in private, unlike a number of recent signings that took place with fanfare, but he raised the issue of earmarks in public remarks playing down their scope and possible harm in the measure. They comprise about 1 percent of the spending package, which will keep the government running through September, he told reporters.

"Done right, earmarks have given legislators the opportunity to direct federal money to worthy projects that benefit people in their districts. And that's why I've opposed their outright elimination," he said.

Remember, he just has to say it; it doesn't matter how he acts.

...er, cozy up to radical Islamist extremists like the Taliban who harbor terrorists, despite those same extremists claims that the request is "illogical" because even The Taliban don't know what Obama means by "moderate Taliban"!

WASHINGTON — The government's terrorist watch list has hit 1 million entries, up 32% since 2007.

Federal data show the rise comes despite the removal of 33,000 entries last year by the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center in an effort to purge the list of outdated information and remove people cleared in investigations.

It's unclear how many individuals those 33,000 records represent —the center often uses multiple entries, or "identities," for a person to reflect variances in name spellings or other identifying information. The remaining million entries represent about 400,000 individuals, according to the center.

The new figures were provided by the screening center and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in response to requests from USA TODAY.

"We're continually trying to improve the quality of the information," says Timothy Edgar, a civil liberties officer at the intelligence director's office. "It's always going to be a work in progress."

My only question is what should we give the 1 millionth terrorist customer as a prize?
