Sen. Dodd Announces Cancer Diagnosis, Defends Healthcare Plan (Video)

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) announces that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer about six weeks ago. Since it was caught early, it is treatable. "This is the slowest growing -- the best one to have," he says. "I'm very confident we're gonna come out of this well."

"I'm gonna be fine... We caught this early."

He also tells reporters that "I have a very good health care plan," which covers an annual physical, which revealed the diagnosis. "I'm fortunate as a member of Congress to have these benefits."

Finally, he announced that he's running for reelection, and joked that he'll be "a little leaner and meaner" in doing so.

Politics aside, I wish Sen. Dodd well in his recovery. And yes, luckily he had great insurance; the kind that "Obamacare" WILL NOT provide.

"Cash For Clunkers" Planned Scrapped; Program Sent To Junkyard Where It Belongs!

As of midnight ET, the Chevy is still running TV and radio ads in the New York metro market.

This entire program was a disaster from the start. Visit the official site for all the complicated details. CARS.gov. Apparently, the anticipated two-month incentive program has run out of money after just over a week or so.

Newsweek did a good job explaining the details and how it's a raw deal for car buyers.

Breitbart reports:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Congressional officials say the government plans to suspend the popular "cash for clunkers" program amid concerns it could quickly use up the $1 billion in rebates for new car purchases.

The Transportation Department called congressional offices late Thursday to alert them to the decision to halt the program, which offered owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle.

The congressional officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Through late Wednesday, 22,782 vehicles had been purchased through the program and nearly $96 million had been spent. But dealers raised concerns of large backlogs in the system, prompting the suspension.

Outrage! Stimulus Bill Funding Porn, "Pervert" Revues In San Francisco Art Houses! (Video)

"We can't afford to make perfect the enemy of the absolutely necessary," Obama said during debate over the stimulus bill in February.

Anyone surprised this is going on in Nancy Pelosi's home turf? Remember, she is the "architect" of the disastrous piece of crap known as the "Stimulus Bill".

Another reason why the NEA is a complete joke and every penny we spend for this frivolous organization is a waste of tax payer dollars.

Fox News reports:

Talk about a stimulus package.

The National Endowment for the Arts may be spending some of the money it received from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund nude simulated-sex dances, Saturday night "pervert" revues and the airing of pornographic horror films at art houses in San Francisco.

The NEA was given $80 million of the government's $787 billion economic stimulus bill to spread around to needy artists nationwide, and most of the money is being spent to help preserve jobs in museums, orchestras, theaters and dance troupes that have been hit hard by the recession.

But some of the NEA's grants are spicing up more than the economy. A few of their more risque choices have some taxpayer advocates hot under the collar, including a $50,000 infusion for the Frameline film house, which recently screened Thundercrack, "the world's only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla."

"When you spend so much money in a short amount of time ... you're going to have nonsense like this, and that's why the stimulus should never have been done in the first place," said David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste.

Click here for a full list of all of the NEA's Recovery Act grants.

Williams said such support for the arts is a luxury at a time when the president and Congress have been telling the public to make sacrifices to manage the recession.

"When taxpayers see this, they realize that's just a bunch of hot air," he told FOXNews.com.

Some members of Congress raised alarms as the stimulus bill was being drafted and approved, but President Obama, while admitting there were problems with the $787 billion legislation, stressed the need for immediate action to resuscitate the economy.

"We can't afford to make perfect the enemy of the absolutely necessary," Obama said at the time.

But he presumably didn't intend to have stimulus money help fund the weekly production of "Perverts Put Out" at San Francisco's CounterPULSE, whose "long-running pansexual performance series" invites guests to "join your fellow pervs for some explicit, twisted fun."

CounterPULSE received a $25,000 grant in the "Dance" category; a staffer there said they were pleased to receive the grant, "which over the next year will be used to preserve jobs at our small non-profit."

Similarly, the director of Frameline, the gay and lesbian film house, told FOXNews.com in an e-mail that their $50,000 grant was not to support any program in particular.

"The grant is not intended for a specific program; it's to be used for the preservation of jobs at our media arts nonprofit organization over the next year during the economic downturn," wrote K.C. Price, who listed four other NEA grants his organization has received.

An NEA spokeswoman defended the agency's choices and said its grants would help "preserve jobs in danger of going away or that had gone away because of the economic downturn."

"Our review process is very comprehensive -- we take great care with applicants and with grantees," said NEA spokeswoman Victoria Hutter. "It's a thorough, rigorous process that they all go through, and we're proud of the projects that we've been able to support."

Though the process was sped up, the NEA's 109 panelist reviewers handled the compressed schedule by giving their $50 million in direct grants only to individuals and groups that have received funding in the past and have already passed muster. An additional $30 million was given to state agencies to parcel out to local artists during this year.

One project that has received past NEA funding and stands to get an additional boost from a $25,000 stimulus grant is "The Symmetry Project," a dance piece by choreographer Jess Curtis.

The show depicts "the sharing of a central axis, [as] spine, mouth, genitals, face, and anus reveal their interconnectedness and centrality in embodied experience," according to a description offered on Curtis' Web site.

In the flesh -- and there's a lot of it -- it amounts to two people writhing naked on the floor, a government-funded tango in the altogether.

Majority Liar Harry Reid: Media To Blame For Creating Arbitrary Healthcare Deadline; “That is a deadline that you created”

Oh really? You big freakin lying sack of...?

The Hill reports:

Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday blamed Capitol Hill media for setting an August deadline for health reform and Republicans for blocking the bill's progress.

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Democratic Conference Vice Chairman Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Conference Secretary Patty Murray (D-Wash.) also acknowledged that critics will "pour it on" during the coming August recess and they plan to respond in kind.

Reid said reporters created a fictitious deadline of a successful vote by the August recess, and downplayed the fact that the chamber won’t meet that mark.

“That is a deadline that you created,” Reid told a group of about 75 reporters. “It’s not like we don’t have a product. Significant progress has been made … The mere fact that this wasn't done by last Friday or by five o’clock doesn't mean we’re not going to get a quality product."

Sens. Michael Enzi (Wyo.), ranking Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, and Chuck Grassley (Iowa), the ranking Republican on the Finance Committee, took stances Thursday against supporting any healthcare bill before the August recess — a move Reid blamed on Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

“The only problem with getting a bipartisan bill is the Republican leadership in the Senate,” Reid said.

Saying the current medical system is "chronically ill," Durbin took aim at the insurance lobby, which he said will “pour it on” during August.

“There are people out there with a lot of money at stake in this debate,” Durbin said. “The health insurance companies are some of the most profitable businesses in America. By fighting change they're protecting their bottom line.”

Jake Tapper Questions The "Teachable Moment" Value Of Crowley/Gates Beer Summit (Video)

Gibbs fumbling as usual and quite frankly, making this Beer Summit, Henry Gates nonsense even worse.

Jake Tapper's take:

The big day is finally here – President Obama’s highly anticipated sit-down with Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates and Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley.

But if you were expecting words of wisdom from this “teachable moment,” don’t hold your breath – none of the three men will speak at the photo op at the White House this evening.

Gibbs said the President is not going to talk to reporters when they are taken out to capture the meeting. “There is no formal agenda, there is no legislative agenda,” Gibbs said, calling it an opportunity to foster a dialogue.

Gibbs said the sit-down is “not an after action report,” and does not expect they will go over the details of what went down that day at Gates’ house in Cambridge.

When told by ABC News’ Ann Compton that Gates wants an apology, Gibbs said “We’re not here to mediate apologies.”

The Gates and Crowley families will arrive separately at the White House at different times and will have separate tours of the White House residence. The First Lady is not in town today and the tours will be conducted by staff.

There was never a discussion about Lucia Whalen, the 911 caller, attending the meeting, Gibbs said.

With Poll Numbers Plummeting, Obama Returns To Bush Bashing!

Presidential Approval Index from Rasmussen Reports

The Washington Times reports:

Facing the first real rough patch of his presidency, President Obama and his supporters are once again resorting to a tried-and-true tactic: attacking George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

In his White House press conference last week, Mr. Obama referred to the Bush era at least nine times, three times lamenting that he "inherited" a $1.3 trillion debt that has set back his administration's efforts to fix the economy.

With the former president lying low in Dallas, largely focused on crafting his memoirs, Mr. Obama has increasingly attempted to exploit Mr. Bush when discussing the weak economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the difficulty closing the military prison at U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

As he took power, Mr. Obama promised a "new era of responsibility" that would transcend partisan politics.

"For a guy who campaigned on taking responsibility and looking forward, he spends an awful lot of time pointing fingers and looking backward," said former Bush deputy press secretary Tony Fratto, who has begun defending the previous administration.

But Democrats think Mr. Obama would be remiss if he did not point out what he inherited.

"I'm not convinced that Obama and his supporters are bashing Bush as much as they are quite rightfully reminding people that our current economic mess and the wars were inherited from the Bush administration," said Democratic strategist Bud Jackson. "It's important to remind people of this because Republicans are now criticizing the Obama administration as if they had no role in how we got here."

Democratic Party strategist Liz Chadderdon said the strategy of blaming the previous team has been effective.

"I think Bush-bashing has been alive and well since '07 and, since it keeps working, why not use it?" she said. "Voters have short memories. The administration needs to remind people that things were way worse over the last four years than in the last six months."

Mixed feelings among voters about health care reform have shaken the president's approval ratings from the high poll numbers when he took office. Six months into his term, 30 percent of the nation's voters "strongly approve" of Mr. Obama's job performance, according to a survey released Monday by the Rasmussen polling organization.

The poll showed that 40 percent "strongly disapprove" of the president's performance, marking the first time the disparity has reached double digits.

Since taking office, Mr. Obama has implemented a $787 billion stimulus package that has failed to produce a quick economic turnaround and the U.S. economy has shed more than 2.5 million jobs.

Mr. Obama hardly ever refers to Mr. Bush by name. In fact, his Web site, whitehouse.gov, recently scrubbed the name of the former president out of a reference to Hurricane Katrina, which once read: "President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast."

Now, the "President Bush" is gone.

Although Mr. Obama's effort is subtle, his rhetoric is clear. On his first trip overseas, Mr. Obama referred to Mr. Bush's foreign policy and said the United States has "shown arrogance" and been "dismissive, even derisive." He said decisions of the past had "lowered our standing in the world."

"There are some mornings I read the news and feel like it's January 2009 -- there are so many stories making the front page about things that President Bush thought about and didn't do," said former White House press secretary Dana Perino. "I find it hard to believe that there aren't more interesting stories affecting Americans in the here and now that can garner that kind of space. But the obsession continues unabated."

Even when asserting his responsibility for addressing the nation's problems, Mr. Obama manages to highlight that he was left to deal with others' missteps.

At a town-hall meeting this month in Michigan -- the state with the nation's highest jobless rate -- Mr. Obama said that fixing the economy is "a job I gladly accept."

But he added, "I love these folks who helped get us in this mess. And then suddenly say, 'Oh, this is Obama's economy.'"

Shocking Hypocrisy! Audio Found Obama Didn't Like It When Bush Rushed Through Legislation (Video)

A heretofore "unknown" 2004 interview with Barack Obama by leftwing radio host Randi Rhodes has just emerged.

Really? Anyone surprised by this? WTF?!?!?! Obama is pissed that there was "no real debate"? Are you kidding me?

Newsbusters reports:

Hypocrisy alert!

A heretofore "unknown" 2004 interview with Barack Obama by leftwing radio host Randi Rhodes has just emerged. And basically, as you shall hear, Obama is saying do as I say, not as I do. In this case he was referring to quickly forcing legislation through congress. As you can hear in this interview, uncovered by Naked Emporer News, the hypocrisy seems so massive that it is destined to go viral on the Web. It features Randi Rhodes back during her Air America days interviewing then senator-elect Barack Obama on November 22, 2004. And despite the fact that Randi is currently pretty well hidden from public view, you can be sure she will soon be talked about again because of her inadvertent exposure of incredible hypocrisy on the part of Obama. And what was the hypocrisy? His complaint that the Bush administration was rushing legislation through congress without giving the legislators time to read the bills or allowing for much debate.

To get the full flavor of the Obama hypocrisy, be sure to listen to the YouTube clip which also includes a video of MSNBC's Chuck Todd discussing why Rahm Emanuel felt the need to Rahm, I mean ram, legislation through congress. Here is the transcript which picks up at the 55 second mark:

BARACK OBAMA: ...When you rush these budgets that are a foot high and nobody has any idea what's in them and nobody has read them.

RANDI RHODES: 14 pounds it was!

BARACK OBAMA: Yeah. And it gets rushed through without any clear deliberation or debate then these kinds of things happen. And I think that this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean you remember that there was no real debate about that. It was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

The YouTube clip then segues to comments made last March by Chuck Todd of MSNBC describing Rahm Emanuel's rationale for rushing legislation through congress:

CHUCK TODD: And a few things that I feel like that I've picked up from these guys. Number one is that they are very aware. Rahm Emanuel is Chief of staff...had experience in the Clinton White House. And he is trying to learn every lesson from those days of Clinton and apply it to Obama. So number one is, don't deal with just one big issue. One of the reasons why, for instance, they thought health care went down is you had one issue sitting out there when Hillary Clinton introduced it. We all focused on it in the media. And the opposition got to organize and stop it. And you can kill anything in this town if you set an idea out here long enough and give the opposition time to organize and stop something. And I don't care which side of the aisle you're on. You can kill anything in Washington doing that. And I think they're attacking it this way: saying we're going to push 3 or 4 different things. Because they believe the opposition won't have time to unite and kill all of it.

So kudos to Randi Rhodes for exposing the massive hypocrisy of one Barack Obama although she wasn't aware of it at the time. And why is it that it is once a blog, and not the MSM, that has dug up this very revealing interview?

Anti-Obama Rally In Jerusalem; President Slammed As "Racist" (Video)

Glenn Beck is not the only one who thinks Obama is a racist!

World Net Daily reports:

JERUSALEM – President Obama's policies against Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem and the strategic West Bank were slammed as "racist" today by participants in a rally drawing about 2,000 Israelis in front of the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem.

"George Mitchell go home!" yelled protestors in front of the U.S. government building.

Mitchell, Obama's envoy to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, is here discussing the American administration's call for a halt to all Jewish settlement activity, including natural growth or accommodating the needs of existing Jewish populations in the areas in question.

The protest began in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official residence. Marchers then made their way to the U.S. consulate about one block away.

"Obama should not be pressing Israel to compromise and freeze building in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem," protest organizer Yaacov Steinberg told WND.

Potty Pork! Money Down The Toilet: CRAPulus "Stimulus" Bill Literally Flushing Tax Dollars Down The Crapper!

WASHINGTON -- The feds are spending tens of millions of stimulus dollars to repair and build toilets across the nation, in an outflow of taxpayer funds that critics have branded "potty pork."

Bidens bloopers complicating US-Russia relations (Video)

The US Vice Presidents harsh statements about Russia are his own, not a preplanned move by the White House, says political analyst Ivan Eland.

Right Pundits has more:

Joe Biden over the weekend made a gaffe of rather historic proportions for a Vice President, and yet the mainstream media seemed to treat it as a trivial incident.

He gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal that was released on Saturday, which had Russian officials seeing red. Here’s one of many quotes that the Russians did not appreciate.

"Russians…have a shrinking population base, they have a withering economy, they have a banking sector and structure that is not likely to be able to withstand the next 15 years, they’re in a situation where the world is changing before them and they’re clinging to something in the past that is not sustainable. "

Biden suggested that Russia will be so weak in the coming years that the country will have to make concessions to the United States and the West in the future. How very diplomatic for a politician.

The full interview is available here. Biden is not responsible for the incendiary title, “Biden Says Weakened Russia Will Bend To U.S.,” but the content of his interview sure lead one to believe that he is making such a statement.

In the interview, he gave some more delightfully insulting insights such as:

"It won’t work if we go in and say: ‘Hey, you need us, man; belly up to the bar and pay your dues…It is never smart to embarrass an individual or a country when they’re dealing with significant loss of face. My dad used to put it another way: Never put another man in a corner where the only way out is over you."

I’m no fan of Russia, but somehow, I don’t think it’s the Vice President’s place to call a country with nuclear weapons that is of vital strategic importance to U.S. foreign policy a “weak” and “withering” country. It’s not smart to compare a very poweful country to a drunk at the bar who can’t pay his bar tab.

That doesn’t seem like good diplomacy, if you ask me.

The Russian news agency stated yesterday that they were “perplexed” by Biden’s remarks. They rightfully asked why Biden was making comments that seemed so contrary to Obama’s stated position that he wanted to “reset” relations with Russia.

Seriously, Obama, this is your second in command?
